the 17th International Architecture Exhibition will be titled How Will We Live Together, an open question: How in favour of concrete solutions; Will to tap into the power of the architectural imagination; We is inclusive of other peoples, Live draws on the intrinsic optimism of architecture; Together highlights the collective dimension of architecture and ? underlines the questioning aspect.
For everyone, the key word will be 'working together'. As the curator of the exhibition Hashim Sarkis declares, who declares: "I hope that the new opening date will allow them to catch their breath to complete the work with the time and vigour it deserves". - he declared. "We didn't foresee all this. The question I asked 'How will we live together?' and the richness of Participants' responses were not designed to address the crisis we are experiencing, but here we are, we are somehow fortunate because we will be well equipped to deal with the immediate and long-term consequences of the crisis in the 2021 edition of the Architecture Biennale. The theme offers us the opportunity to respond to the pandemic also in the immediate future, and for this reason we will return to Venice in the coming months for a series of activities dedicated to architecture.
The 17th International Architecture Exhibition will present, as usual, the National Participations with their own exhibitions in the Pavilions at the Giardini and the Arsenale, as well as in the historic centre of Venice. Also for this edition, Collateral Events are planned, proposed by international bodies and institutions, which will set up their exhibitions and their initiatives in Venice in conjunction with the 2021 Architecture Biennale.
